The Jaybird Freedom Wireless earbuds are still one of the best exercise headphones on the market. They are feature-loaded, easy-to-use, sweat proof, and attractive to look at. And the sound of Jaybird Freedom, after you’ve fiddled with the EQ, is excellent.

Once you’ve settled on a sound profile, the Jaybird Freedom saves your EQ settings to the headphones itself so your customized sound comes with you no matter what device you have paired. The app also gives you a live battery indicator, so you’re not left guessing exactly how much time you have left before you have to charge. These are killer features I wished more wireless headphones offered.

Overall, the Jaybird Freedom do look way sleeker than the X2s, but they also don’t fit as well. The bigger ‘buds of the X2s wedged themselves in your ears and even though it was bulky and looked weird, they fit great. With the Freedom, you have to rely completely on the little accessories like the cable clips and wing tips.

The Jaybird Freedom appears to be conventional neckband-style sports headphones, although they’re special in the sense that the earbuds themselves are made from metal. This is uncommon for Bluetooth headphones, due to metal typically hindering the Bluetooth signal.

Luckily, the headphones — which are available in five color options — come with a nice little carrying pouch, where you can store the battery clip and any extra tips and ear fins that come with the headphones. A set of cord shorteners is also included, but they aren’t the most elegant solution. Jaybird needs to find a way to integrate a cord adjustment design element into the product, not have you attach something to it.

The Jaybird Freedom buds tick all of the boxes when it comes to quality earphones – wireless, small, compact size, good battery life, great fit and an excellent sound.

Natural, rich sound. Supreme in-ear fit with a tight seal. Three sizes of eartips come in the box, as well as a barely-there cable clip for taking up any annoying slack in the one-piece cable. Jaybird quotes four hours of use per charge, but in real life, it’s more than six. I charged up the headset all the way, then wore them for two hours of office work, an hour of yoga, and another three hours beyond that.

The design of the Freedoms is such that the wire and controls never felt like they were getting in the way. They were never uncomfortable, even after long, sweaty workouts, and after a while, we forgot they were even there. Really, this is the most important thing with exercise earbuds: they have to be comfortable, doing their job without becoming an annoyance, and the Freedoms managed to pull this off with aplomb.

Once you get the fit right, the Freedom earbuds practically disappear. I wore them on my daily commute – barely felt them. I wore them doing yard work – not a bother. I wore them running – just a slight wiggle. The earbuds felt – and I hate to admit – rather freeing.

Jaybird Freedom is truly an innovative gadget of efficiency and convenience, although, there are few setbacks to this gadget, before I go further, I will love to get you well acquainted to its advantages and setbacks.

The Freedom Wireless is a very well made set of wireless in-ears, and they should be praised for their build quality and the plethora of fit options. While their sound is decent, you’ll be rewarded if you take the time to balance the EQ out in the MySound app.
